PEXIM scholarships for 2022/23 have been awarded to Emilija Đorđević and Andrej Jakovljević from Serbia.

Both candidates left a profound imporession on the Foundation Board, not just for their academic skills, but also for their extensive contribution to their communities and their younger colleagues.

Emilia will pursue an MPhil in Machine Learning and Machine Intelligence, at the University of Cambridge as a member of King’s College. After returning to Serbia, she plans to work as an Applied AI Scientist. She aims to contribute to the thriving AI scene in Serbia and envisions her work on practical projects making a significant impact in the coming years. She also intends to maintain her involvement with the Physics Department of Petnica Science Centre, where she has been mentoring high school students for the past five years.

Andrej will pursue MPhil in Advanced Computer Science at Hughes Hall College. He specialized in operating systems and programming languages compilers during his studies. After returning to Serbia, he plans to use his skills to contribute to the transition into the AI age. In addition, he plans to continue to provide his support and knowledge to the Physics department ant the Petnica Science Centre, where he has been a mentor to high school students for six years.
